If your shipping workflow consists of shipping orders in batches instead of picking and packing individual orders, high-volume processing could be a useful feature for your operations. 3PL Warehouse Manager allows you to queue up to 300 orders while the system processes the orders in the background and populates a tracking number for each order.
This article reviews the steps necessary to process a high-volume shipment. Please be aware that this process requires you to have fully packed orders with accurate package data, as well as SmartParcel and the high-volume shipment feature enabled for your account.
While it is not a requirement, batching orders ahead of time is best practice for processing high-volume shipments. See Batch Order Processing for more information.
Before processing high-volume shipments, it is critical that each order is packed with accurate package data via SmartPack or the Consolidate Packages feature—see Methods of Packing Orders for more information.
Step 1: Enable default high-volume processing setting (optional)
Though not required, if you process high-volume shipments for a customer on a frequent basis, you may want to enable the high-volume processing default option.
To do so, navigate to Customers > SmartParcel Settings, then select the appropriate customer from the drop-down menu. Under 'SmartParcel High Volume Processing', check the box next to High Volume Processing Checked by Default, then click Save.
Once enabled, the 'Process High Volume' option is automatically selected each time you print a shipping label for this customer. Repeat for each customer as needed.
Step 2: Process shipment with SmartParcel
To process the high-volume shipment, open one or more orders in SmartParcel from the Find Orders page.
Once you're ready to print the shipping label, select the box next to Process High Volume if you chose not to process high-volume by default, then click Print.
The system processes the orders in the background. Once each order is processed, the tracking numbers populate on the orders.
If you experience errors while trying to process batches, please feel free to reference the error log in the Customers module. For more information, see Using the Customer Error Log.
Step 3: Print labels from Find Orders
Once the processing is complete, you can print the labels from the Find Orders page. Select the orders for which you wish to print labels, hover over SmartParcel, then click Reprint Shipping Label in the appropriate label format.
Smart User Tip: If you are using the official batching feature, 'Choose a Batch' using the 'Search by Order Details' filter. You can then click Select All and quickly print all your shipping labels at once.
